Welcome, DWO Online visitors!

Carina Nebula

It’s Friday the 24th of January–and if you’re seeing this post, then you may have come over to see me from the ad that’s gone live for Faerie Blood on Doctor Who Online! If you’ve come over from there, whether from their website or from their Twitter account, then hello and welcome! This post is for you. It’ll be the first of a series of posts I’m going to do in honor of working with the DWO site to promote my work.

A few words about me to start off with. From my site header as well as my About page, you’ll know that I write under two names.

Angela Highland is for work I’ve sold commercially. Right now, so far, that means the high fantasy trilogy Rebels of Adalonia, currently published by Carina Press.

Angela Korra’ti is for stuff I self-publish. Right now, that’s the Free Court of Seattle urban fantasy series.

I like to think of these as two different regenerations occupying the same space and time. By which you can also conclude that I’m a Doctor Who fan!

My entire household loves the show, although my wife and our housemate were fans long before I was, with a strong grounding in the classic-era series. I came in officially with New Who and the Ninth Doctor. Loved me some Eccleston, but swooned hardcore for Tennant, and I do consider Tennant “my” Doctor. We fell briefly out of watching the show during Capaldi’s era, but we’re back on board now for Jodie Whittaker.

I have swung back to enjoy classic-era Who as well. Tom Baker is my favorite classic-era Doctor, particularly because he’s got a few of my favorite Companions (Sarah Jane, Leela, Romana)–but also because my wife and I very much enjoy Tom Baker’s audio adventures that he’s done with Big Finish.

We’ve also quite enjoyed branching out to other Doctors from his adventures, as well. After seeing Colin Baker as a guest at a local convention a couple of years ago, we went and bought his Big Finish adventure The Wrong Doctors. Which. Was. AWESOME. 😀

Speaking of Big Finish, we’re also big fans of the Doctor Who Podcast. Their Big Finish reviews are one of our favorite parts of that podcast, particularly their jingle for them, which we discovered to our delight could be sung as a round.

And oh yes–that ad of mine, on Doctor Who Online? That’s for Faerie Blood, Book 1 of the Free Court of Seattle. If it sweetens the pot for any of you all considering buying it, my heroine Kendis is also a Doctor Who fan. She in fact passingly refers to the TARDIS in Book 2, Bone Walker!

In closing, I hope you’ll consider hanging around to get to know me and my work. I hope I’ll get a chance to meet you as well. Do drop me a comment and let me know who your favorite Doctors and Companions are, won’t you? Or if you have any questions about me or my work in general that I can answer.

Thank you all for coming by!
